Step 4: Choose a business logo

Your business logo should follow the same rules as your business name. Choose an image that reflects some aspect of your business, and is an accurate reflection of what you want to say to the world. Again, this is an image that you will be seeing a lot of in the future, so choose an image that makes your heart sing!

Step 5: Take care of all of the necessary paperwork

Get your state and Federal tax identification numbers, file all the necessary paperwork for incorporation, etc. at this point. Also, if you haven’t done this already, be sure to develop a business plan (marketing strategies, etc). This is where all of the data that you gathered during the marketing analysis really begins to pay off.

Your business plan should define your business goals and objectives, as well as your plans for implementation and execution. Don’t worry about developing the “perfect plan” at this point. Your plan will no doubt be modified in the future as your business becomes more established and profitable.

Step 6: Order business supplies, furniture, etc.

These supplies may include business cards, brochures, etc. Just be sure to include your new logo on your supplies, whenever possible. This will help to “brand” your business, and will help to establish your presence in the marketplace. Also, when selecting furniture, try to ensure that you are selecting pieces that will be ergonomically safe, durable and practical. We recommend the following items to get you started:

Step 7: Set up a business website

This is another crucial step in your business development process. Business websites are your online “calling card,” and will help to not only establish your business, but to validate it’s authenticity and placement within your industry.

Potential customers peruse websites prior to purchasing products or services to ensure that the business will meet their expectations. Do not disappoint them by failing to have a presence on the web.

Even a one-page website will help your customers to find vital information about your business such as your: office/business hours, location, phone number, staff member bios, etc. instantly. If marketed properly, a business website can propel your business further than almost any other marketing tool can. So, get onboard and publish your business website today!
